Doctorate of Jurisprudence (law) degree, University of Oregon, 1991

Bachelor of Science degree, psychology, University of Oregon 1987

 

Family:

Rick lives in Sutherlin with his wife Gillian and his son Lee.

 

Career/Professional Highlights:

20+ years as a successful criminal prosecutor

Served as the Assistant District Attorney for Douglas County

Extensive county management and legal administrative experience

Successfully prosecuted 1000's of criminal cases

Secured conviction of many of Douglas County's most dangerous and violent criminals

Successfully prosecuted the most difficult and complex criminal cases including aggravated murder and sexual assault on children

Served as the Douglas County Interagency Narcotics Team (DINT) Prosecutor

Was instrumental in the formation and continued success of Douglas County's Adult Drug Court

Was instrumental in the formation and continued success of Douglas County’s Domestic Violence Court

Consistently recognized for superior victim advocacy

Created "hold the line" budget for the District Attorney's office for fiscal 2008-present

 

Community Service:

Serves as current Board President of the Phoenix School Board

Served as co-chair of the Meth Task Force

Served on the Sutherlin City Council

Served as the Douglas County Bar Association president
